BNF Summit 2026 “Love Ye One Another”

Spent the weekend in Huntsville, AL for our annual Baptist Nursing Fellowship (BNF) meeting that we call The Summit.

Rewind to last week, I was busy working, setting up a new course for students, signing paperwork for new jobs, houses, my AC at home broke, I lost my voice, my work schedule got flipped around and by Friday morning (after working the night shift) the LAST THING I wanted to do was head to Huntsville!

Somewhere between Meridian and Tuscaloosa I started praying that the Lord would “help me to have a good time.” LOL I know the Lord gets a kick out of my prayers sometimes and that one probably topped the list.

When I finally made it to The Summit I was Immediately greeted by all my BNF friends. Old friends, new friends, from different states and countries all gathered together for the same purpose. I got to meet with nursing students to encourage them and find out how BNF can best serve them. We heard amazing missionary testimonies, worshipped and studied God’s word as we learned how to love others well. We ate, snacked, celebrated, cried, laughed and hauled so many heavy wooden tables up and down stairs. The health fair/evangelism outreach on Sunday was an amazing time to see how various skills and organizations in healthcare can come together to reach a community with the Gospel.

I drove home Sunday evening reminded that sometimes the best things happen when we show up even when we don’t feel like it. The Lord knew exactly what I needed, even when my calendar planned otherwise…and I had a great time!!

BNF has been such a gift to me, not just because of the friendships, but because it continually reminds me that nursing is more than a profession. It’s an opportunity to serve, encourage, love, and share the Gospel with people right where God has placed us.

If you’re a nurse, nursing student, or healthcare provider looking for a way to connect your passion for healthcare with your heart for missions, I would love for you to join us! You might just find your people, your purpose, and a reminder of why you went into healthcare in the first place.
