missions & prayer

Your skills were always meant to travel.

There is a particular kind of restlessness that many nurses carry. It's the feeling that the work matters deeply right where you are, and also that you might be called somewhere further. Maybe you've thought about a medical mission trip but weren't sure where to start. Maybe you've served before and you're ready to go again. Maybe you're not sure what you're ready for, only that you want your nursing to mean something beyond the walls of your unit.

Missions is not a program we offer on the side. It is the heartbeat of this fellowship, and we believe your healing skills are part of how God is at work in the world.

BNF exists for that feeling.

Near and far.

Mission service through BNF takes many forms. Some members travel internationally, serving in clinics, hospitals, and communities where healthcare access is limited and the presence of a skilled, faith-filled nurse changes everything. Others serve closer to home, through local outreach projects and community health initiatives that reflect the same calling in a different geography.

Wherever you feel led, BNF can help you get there well. We connect nurses with vetted opportunities, walk alongside you as you prepare, and surround the work with prayer before, during, and after. If you've wanted to go but didn't know how, this community knows the way.

We share mission trip opportunities throughout the year, ranging from local service projects to international medical missions. Browse current opportunities below, and reach out if you have questions about any of them.

nurse missionaries

The people who show us what's possible.

One of the most meaningful parts of BNF membership is the connection to nurse missionaries, both those actively serving and those who have retired from the field. Hearing their stories has a way of reordering your perspective. The challenges they've navigated, the moments of grace they've witnessed, the specific ways their nursing training opened doors that nothing else could have — it gives the rest of us a clearer sense of what we're part of.

BNF maintains relationships with current and retired nurse missionaries through our prayer network, our annual Summit, and throughout the year. When a missionary shares a prayer need or sends word from the field, this community shows up.
